Tragedy Reminds Me...

Friday, March 15, 2013

..to treasure those I love and be a blessing to all those around me.

This morning DH called me from school to let me know it had been a hard morning. Their buildings and grounds guy at school found out his wife was in a fatal car accident this morning on her way to work. There was freezing rain and snow overnight and the roads weren't so good. I don't know the particulars, but it doesn't matter. A man lost his wife VERY unexpectedly this morning. She also leaves behind a teenage daughter.

To be honest, I can't even get my mind to conceive of how I would react if I got that news about my husband. It's so easy to just go about life as if nothing like that will ever happen. When DH said goodbye after the phone call he snuck in the comment, "I'm so glad you made it safely to work."
Yeah, it could've been me just as easily I guess.

Moral of the story: Give your kids and spouses a good squeeze today and treasure your time with them. Spread love and joy wherever you go, someone is surely in desperate need of it. Speak life into people, even the mean ones. Be thankful...every breath is a blessing straight from God, the giver of all good gifts!

I love you, all my dear SparkFriends, and am so thankful for the help and encouragement you bring me

How tragic, prayers for that husband and daughter. It is never easy to lose a loved one, but tragic accidents just stinks.

Prayers for those who are facing the sadness and loss. When I was a child, my parents talked about the importance of telling those we love that we love them and kissing them goodbye - my parents continued to kiss and tell each other their love - even when just leaving the ROOM. Death comes so often with no warning.

So true! My dear D-I-L once commented about ALWAYS kissing Tobias good-bye, no matter what the current mood between them is. She said, "Of course, sometimes I want to bop him on the head and kiss him at the same time!" We all laughed at the time, but we knew the truth of what she said. We're never guaranteed that second chance at making things right.

Keeping all of you in my heart and prayers tonight.

    Prayers for the loved ones!

You are so right and it is one reason I always tell whoever I am on the phone with I love you before I hang up... Cause you do never know! Brings back memoires of Sept. 11th for me.

Of course, I don't tell business associates that... doh di doh doh doh!

GOLDEN RULE APPLIES: Do unto to others as you woudl have them do unto you.

Many hugs for you! And thanks for all you do for me as well!

I am so sorry to hear of this loss. I also cannot imagine hearing news like that. Your words are SO true! I learned this lesson this past December when the school shooting in Connecticut took place. The children that were killed, 1st Graders, were the same age as my daughter. Since that incident, I am much more quick to give a hug, kiss, or I love you to my loved ones and even a warm smile and hello to strangers.

We never know what the future will bring so show love and kindness to all!
