I went for my semi-annual dr. visit today and was informed that I am pre-diabetic. I knew something was up because there would be times I would be just so sleepy after eating...I just didn't feel right. After narrowing it down, I found this to occur after eating foods high in carbs. So I did modidfy my diet by increasing whole grains, cutting out soda, and increasing veggies, decreasing alcohol intake and exercising a whole lot more. Despite these efforts, I remain borderline, so I still have more work to do and have to really do more monitoring of my diet and exercise. I believe I can do it...trust me, I don't want to have this progress to full blown diabetes--that's my motivation! From what I understand, this may have come about because I had gestational diabetes during one of my pregnancies and that means I may be prone to diabetes later on in life. Well, I'm going to fight this off for as long as I can. SP does have a success story about a woman who was successfully able to reverse her diabetes...I'm going to try my best.
