I am here once again. Don't know if this will make it every day now or not. Still have a lot of irons in the fire. I have not been doing well on watching what I eat or the exercise, but am going to try to get back in the groove. In fact, my cousin joined weight watchers and since she is starting in we are going to be each others support. She does not have a computer so that makes it hard on her for a lot of things. I have been encouraging her to get one and join Spark., but she has never really been exposed to one and I know that it intimidates her just as it used to me.
I have been busy doing salvage work for wood on a duplex apartment. Michael came over and took a truck load home with him that I had finally gotten all the nails and screws out of. He is planning on coming over on Saturday and getting the one chicken house I built and all the little chicks I got for him. They are ready to go out. In fact i put the four I am keeping out in a small pen about four days ago and they are doing fine. Once he gets these out of the way all I will have left in my brooder box are three ducklings and three cornish cross chicks. They should all be ready to go out in about three more weeks. I could put them out on the patio and that is what I may do.
Of the rabbits that were born on valentines day only one has survived. I did not have thenesting box made as tightly as I should and about ten days after they were born they got all wet and when I finally went out to tend to everything six were dead and the seventh was not doing so well. I brought the last one in and got it warmed up and moved it and its mother into a dog cage until I could get the box dried out and sealed. It has grown like a little pig. We have named it Lil' Lucky because it sure was lucky On March first Lady Grey had a litter. There are eight. They have their eyes open and are doing great. I brought some in to show Jeff today and I carried them in my sweat shirt and they initiated me really well. Had to change the shirt after I took them back out. I have two more does who should have litters by the twenty fifth. I am going to be giving them to Michael but I will not move them until after their little ones are big enough to be weaned. Then he will get them. In the meantime, I will be going over and helping him rebuild some cages so he will be ready for them.
I did my first dressing out of chickens last week. Jeff does not know it and as far as he is concerned they will be cornish hens when I bake them with some dressing. We are starting to get a couple of eggs a day.
We do have a male duck I will be getting a couple of females to go with him before much longer. the gal who has them for me went to cancun for a couple of weeks and when she gets back and settled back in. I will be getting them.
I have lettuce and spinach sprouted, but our temps have been running about ten degrees below normal so they are not growing real quickly. once they do I should have some ready for the table in a couple of weeks. They are in a crude cold frame I made and the chickens can't get to them. I only have one chicken running around in the yard and I call her Houdini because every time I have caught her and put her in one of the pens she has escaped.
Am starting to get my seeds in order and planning where I am going to plant things.
I just finished the dishes and should think about going to bed it is Friday and has been for a couple of hours. I have my days and nights mixed up again.
I will try to get back in the swing of things and stay there.
God bless all of you
