....and I am FINALLY actually getting started on it!
For five years I've been making plans for my own personal organic garden. Plans were coming along nicely, even if the money was hiding. But now I finally am able to get started, now that I found the information I wish I had found five years ago. All this time I was holding off because we need container gardening and I was concerned about the possible chemical leaching into the soil and thus getting into the food I'm growing, but I have spoken with some people and found some online information that gives me reason to decide to just risk it. There is no scientific evidence there actually is leaching INTO the foods being grown in the containers with the chemicals. Given our financial situation and the fact that we don't have money to be spending on the containers without the chemicals, this is good news....and a risk I am willing to take.
I'll do the best I have the ability to do, and ask God to bless our bounty. And even if the leaching IS a problem with the produce, growing our own otherwise organic produce in it HAS to be better than buying the non-organic produce at the store.
I am hoping to have at least a small summer harvest, a bigger fall harvest, and hoping I can manage a winter harvest as well. Start small, though, or I could get overwhelmed.
