Evolution... Looking back is good sometimes

Friday, March 15, 2013

Today I was reading some blogs, and had the idea to see how I became this committed to working out.

It's not like I'm a workout junkie, I have an easy approach to it... Workout six days a week, respect your one rest day, aim at 45-60 minutes at least, and at least two of those workouts have to be strength training.

Now I feel it has been like this all the time I've been on this journey, and I know that exercise has been an important part of my progress...

But what surprised me today was looking back at my workout calendar for the heart rate monitor, and finding out that I didn't started with so much commitment to work out, instead, I feel, it grew on me as the time passed and I started feeling better.

Here is the monthly recap:

Month / Workout sessions / Total workout time / Total calories burn

November / 7 / 4h 31 min / 2135
December / 11 / 7h 46 min / 4616
January / 20 / 16 h 10min / 9044
February / 36 / 21 h 53 min / 13141
March (so far) / 20 / 11 h 46 min / 6964

I think that if I could do it, just adding on workouts, and even two or three different types and sessions a day, anyone can do it, at their own pace.

And it's a good thing to see that I wasn't that committed at first, but maybe I am now...

Sometimes I feel like I've done it the opposite way, I start out so strong and as time goes on, I see myself less and less at the gym or working out. I think you have the right idea! Great work!

When I first started I had the hardest time getting motivated. Even now on "Mondays" it's hard to get motivated. Maybe it's because it's Monday. It's nice to see how far we've come. I often look back on my blogs and think to myself wow. I've really come so far. Keep up the good work and I hope you have a wonderful week!

You are so right, and the same goes for food/nutrition. If I had started out at the calorie range I have now, there's no way I would have made it. But working my way down to it (the way you show you worked to increase your workouts) let me adjust and make it work.
