Thursday, March 14, 2013

if i was waiting for a wake up call,i got it.as I type this my dad is getting a six bypass heart surgery.he is 54 .it happened so fast but a ekg done at a dr apt showed something .we went to the hospital and he has several blockages one is 100 percent blocked has always liked fast food, overweight, diabetties,.I am heading that way at 255 pounds..after seeing what he has gone though and its far from over.no way do I wana go through this.its horrible. Its horrible to know my dad the strong one who has done so much for me is now having his chest cut open.before he went back for surgery he told me to change my ways so I will not be where he is now.but my poor dad was still talking about how he loves bacon even as the meds was kicking in.but mabe if i show him i can do it he will to.he will be changing but it will be hard and i want him to know he isnt alone in this..it really is sad to see him go through this im trying not to cry as i type this.this has opened my eyes bigtime.

I know how you feel. My husband had his first heart attack at the age of 30, 10 years ago. I wasn't ready for that. He had his second surgery 1 month after his first. Then he had his third last April. It's hard especially when you struggle to change your ways. My hubby struggles daily even knowing that he can go through this again. But I think because I really am pushing hard to change my ways he is seeing it and is taking the initiative to eat better. He still has his downfalls but he is doing better. Stay strong, do this for you and in the process it will help you father. Help him change his ways, but try not to stress over it. That can make things worse for you. I know because I let it happen. If your dad likes bacon, get him turkey or veggie bacon, stuff like that. Anything you can do to help. Teach him and if your mom is with him, teach her how to cook and make healthy meals. I not only had to do that for us, but I have been having to help both my parents with this. Good luck and know that we all are here praying for you and your dad. Have a great day. God Bless!!!
