Darned scale & achilles tendon! Yay shoes, calorie burn, tv dinners!

Stoopid thing is telling me I have gained a half pound or so of last week's loss back. 'Tever, 'tis frustrating, though... especially since I know I am being a good camper this week, only 15 calories over goal total all week on one night when I had a growly tummy....

My exercise has slowed a bunch from last week and that is due to my left Achilles tendon pain. So I am having to take it somewhat easier than I would. But I WILL have my 2K calorie burn this week, by gum.

Last night I had my first and a GREAT treadmill run since last week. I have only been walking due to the tendon issue. So my tendon is a little unhappy today, but it's okay. Sadly, I think I am finding out that my beloved minimalist shoes may be part of the tendon problem, especially since I have been wearing my regular ASICS all this week and have had diminishing pain and irritation. I have my Pace Gloves on today for just walking around the office, so we will see, but they have an elastic in the heel that is bothering that tendon a bit. Maybe I can find a pair of shoes that are more minimal than the ASICS but not barefoot that will allow me the lightest shoe with the least effect on my achilles. It's trial and error time... maybe to work to a more planned transition to the minimalist shoes will allow my Achilles time to adapt.

The APFT is coming up on Sunday and it looks like it will be about 35-40 degrees. I don't know what the deal is so far this year, but every time I have had a planned run, be it a 5K or PT test, the weather is conspiring against me. I can have beautiful days just to get out and run, but if it's planned... the weather gods seem to "know"... MEH. Oh well, I will get over it, suck it up and DRIVE ON! I have my sit ups and push ups ready to go... and I generally do better on the day of, since I have nervous adrenaline flowing.

Oh, gotta do a small product endorsement, I tried a Lean Cuisine Salad Additions thing today and really liked it. I had the Bistro Chicken with Bacon Vinaigrette dressing. Very nice! Good mix of veg on top of my mixed field greens and the dressing reminded me of my Mom's wilted lettuce dressing. Two thumbs up on that one. I will let you know as I try the others. It was also a nice change from a salad brought from home or leftovers.

Tonight, however, we are going out to eat since it is mine & Hubby's 26th anniversary! We are stuck between HuHot (Mongolian BBQ), Buckingham's (American BBQ), Osaka (Sushi) or Taqueria Rodeo (real taqueria)... Hard choices since they are all favorites of mine. Sigh... Columbia MO is such a foodie town, hard to believe, I guess since we are in the middle of Missouri, but it is so true.

I also have become a huge fan of the Keurig. We bought one for home about a month ago and have become avid fans, although the BEST coffee in the world to me remains my husband's home roasted Markbuck's in the French Press. But the Keurig is so handy when you just want one cup... and there are some of the cups that are pretty good. Anyway, I bought one for my office too. I am so glad I did! I am drinking a good deal of hot tea now in addition to the coffee. It's nice. I know the machines are rather pricey, but they are very good quality.

So well, I guess I will return you to your regularly scheduled program! (After all the product endorsements!)

    We have to just keep plugging along. For myself, I have to cut portions and stop eating Mary Janes! But I get frustrated too, because it is really, really hard to lose weight. I hope your tendon and heel pain clear up. The weather should be warming up soon to make it easier to run.

    The scale is not the only thing that measures success, if you eat right and exercise the scale will catch up with your hard work!
