Snacking Advice!?

Thursday, March 14, 2013

I have currently lost 7 pounds which puts me about 3 pounds away from my first goal weight (weight my freshman year of college) I thought i was eating healthy. However, i have noticed i have a snacking problem.

Typical day

Breakfast:6 am
Option 1: Protein Pancake (1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder, 1 egg white, half a banana)
Option 2: Egg sandwich (2 sliced Udis GF whole grain bread, 1 hard boiled egg, fat free cheese)

Morning snack: 9am
Banana and Marys gone crackers (Quinoa, brown rice, flax seeds, and sesame seeds)

Lunch:12pm
1 can green beans and some chicken

After Noon snack:4 pm
What ever i can find in the house (usually cereal or a sandwich)

Dinner: 6pm
Usually something out of Hungry Girl

7-8 workout

8pm Snack (I need to stop eating after i workout)

Any suggestions on what to snack on that will keep me full and make me not want to snack more?

I second the idea of adding protein to your snack. The balance with carbs keeps your blood sugar balanced a bit longer and also has a "satisfaction" factor that seems to help a lot.

Best of luck to you!

Something I have found helpful is adding protein to my snack. So perhaps the same crackers with some cheese or turkey deli meat or an apple/banana with some nut butter. The balance of protein and a whole grain carb/or fruit may help keep you full longer. You can get some more ideas from The Eat Clean Diet or Eating For Life. There are websites for both or perhaps you can check out the books at your local library. Hope that helps.

Fruit is my go-to snack. Would that work for you?
