Week 3: Day 3 Results

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

1) I had my Blue smoothie and my Green one
2) I ate 12 servings of veggies and fruit
3) I did C25K
4) I did strength training
5) I studied Chinese for an hour today

Having my Green smoothie for breakfast is going to work out good for me. It takes about 15 minutes to make it and it keeps me full for hours. Plus, I get to start my day out with 6(!!) servings of veggies. I had to buy some scope though, for my garlic/onion breath =)

When I did get hungry after that big smoothie, I just had a quarter cup of walnuts and a cup of raspberries and that held me over just fine. I just got home a few minutes ago and I had 4 cups of leaves and 3 ounces of fish, and my Blue smoothie which I am still sipping for dessert.

I love this smoked fish I get--its so Delicious!! But I am going to stop getting it and buy raw fish to cook at home even though I like it less, because the smoked just has too much sodium for me. So I'm savoring the smoked fish I have now.

For my C25K, I did a 1 1/2 minute run and 3 1/2 minute walk (6x) again today and it was still hard but I think less hard. Its difficult to say if its getting easier or not, because its still so hard.

BUT I made some OTHER progress: Since I lost 8 lbs I got to thinking that my assisted pull-ups and triceps dips aren't doing as much good so I lowered the amount of weight the machine is lifting by 15 lbs (its the very next increment). So now, even with the weight loss, I am lifting 51 lbs of my weight (up by 10 lbs!!) and the machine is lifting 190 lbs. It wasn't that much harder, until I got to that last set and THAT one got hard to finish. Right now my arms feel like they are going to fall off--in a good way. =)

And finally, I feel like I'm making real progress with my Chinese. Today I listened for a half hour while I was on the treadmill but since the "run" part of it was SO hard, I didn't feel I gave it enough attention to move on, so I listed to it for another half hour when I got home. Now there are Chinese ppl just walking up and talking to me which is very cool. I think they must have talked about me amongst themselves, because today at the gym a lady just walked by and told me "Ne hoa" (spelling might be wrong) which means hello, and a young man asked me, "How is your Chinese coming along" and then stayed to chat for awhile. It was nice.

Today feels like a success. Oh Yeah, and I almost forgot--I feel like I really aced the exam I took today.

Glad to hear you are on an upbeat swing! Savour these good days and lock them into your consiousness so when you start to slide - you can pull up the good stuff and realign your day!
It's always good to switch up your routine for strength and cardio every 4 - 5 weeks so you don't get in a rut - even doing the same exercises in a different order makes a difference... who would have thought!

Your chinese classes are motivating me to get out my rosetta stone to learn spanish - we go to mexico every year and my spanish leaves a lot to be desired....
maybe 30 minutes a d ay to start - thanks for the inspiration! emoticon

WooHoo! I feel like you started a positivity wave that we could all jump into!

I imagine the Chinese-speaking students are so happy to know someone is learning their language b/c it means one more person they can speak their native tongue to. I imagine it alleviates a little homesickness just to be able to casually pass someone and say, "Ne Hoa" and have them know what you said. Imagine being in India or Russia and someone comes up to you and says "Hello!" in English with a smile! (I imagine things a lot. lol) You are actually being an ambassador!

You're doing so awesome. Your good days outnumber the "off" days. I feel sure the next time you go back to the Dr., that he'll be amazed at your continued progress.

Have a great day today!
