I've finished all of the training volunteer's are required to attend. I spent Monday and Tuesday at their office doing data entry. There's a big fund raising fashion show next week and they are receiving a lot of donated items for the raffle. I was typing the who and the what into a database they'll be using to line up and describe all the stuff. Not what I was expecting to do when I volunteered to work with animals! But, they needed the help and I'm a very fast typist and know my way around most office software. (This was with Windows 97 and an ACCESS database - the dark ages!)
I'm looking forward to working with the cats, especially. I have always adopted the oldest cats on display because no one else wants them. My latest cat, Penske, was 13! years old and been a single owner cat. I can not IMAGINE putting a life time pet into a shelter! The reason given was allergies. Um. You've had the dang cat for 13 years - didn't you figure that out before??? I snapped her right up.
I've had a lot of black cats, too, since people tend to shy away from them. (How can people still be superstitious about cats??) This is my cat Mary. She was 6 when I got her last year.
