Dining Project: Completed!

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

Thank you for sharing all of YOUR ideas with me last week!
I chose 2 sets of place mats....pretty and laminated for the children.

Our table runner was delivered yesterday, and I found lovely palm branch place mats that match the table runner at a Tuesday Morning store - I just love that store....lots of bargains!

Here's a close up of the Celtic green glass S&P shakers...love how they match and I ordered that back in November!

...:::another closeup under the table.

Our children chose to make their own place mats....and we are in the process of laminating each one. They are having fun being creative!

So we have the table looking lovely as well as usable....::: emoticon of both worlds!

My sons are choosing old pages from Dr. Suess' books....:::of course! My youngest daughter has chosen her special book, and my eldest daughter has chosen an excerpt from an old book of ballads. She must have my sense of humor.
Here's the old ballad: This had all of us in histerics! LOL!! emoticon emoticon Sometimes the best humor is old!

Old Maid and the Burglar

One night last week a burglar bold
Tried to rob a house.
He crept up to the window
As quietly as a mouse.

Into the window, into the room,
And into a great big hall.
If he had known 'twas an old maid's home
He never would have paid the call.

About nine o'clock the old maid came.
"Oh, I'm so tired," she said.
Thinking that all was well that night,
She forgot to look under the bed.

She took out her teeth and a big glass eye
And the hair off the top of her head;
The burglar had about ninety-nine fits
As he looked from under the bed.

The old maid reached for her great big gun
And to the burglar said,
"young man, if you don't marry me,
I'll blow off the top of your head."

The burglar looked all around the room
And could find no place to scoot.
He looked at the teeth and the big glass eye
And said, "Woman, for the Lord's sake, shoot!"

We happen to collect old Old Maid cards::::...love the game....the older the illustrations are - the better!

Thanks again for your fun ideas. We are on spring break....::::enjoying plenty of emoticon and outdoor fun! emoticon It's been a great week already.
