Okay, so I have been swimming 1000-1500 meters 3 times a week for the last 2 weeks (I know it's not much of a streak, but it's a start), and aside from the fact that I can't do breast stroke right now, I am really enjoying it.
Back when I was in college, I used to swim laps for exercise all the time. But I have pretty much been concentrating on running and strength training for the last few years (of course there were lots of years in between that I did nothing at all!), so swimming wasn't really on my mind.
Now that swimming is one of only a handful of exercises that my ortho has told me I'm allowed to do, it is making me re-introduce me to an old love. I even managed to wake up at 4:30am this morning to get my swim in before work. I think I will try to do that again on Friday.
On the injury front, I have a second ultrasound of my calf in the morning. If the blood clot is dissolved, then I can schedule an appointment with the ortho to see about scheduling the surgery on my knee (I'm now hoping for surgery in April). If the clot is still there, we wait another month and check again. Really hoping for good results in the morning!
Thanks for all of the well wishes, and support!
