Today I was noticed a cache of old letters from my single days in the 1990s. I read a few of them and it was great to read little missives from my mom and friends from back then. The ones that wrote me letters then are still friends today. I reached behind this box and thought I saw a wad of lint or a rock or something that I thought I'd throw away. It turned out to be a long-lost earring! This was an earring that I really really liked back in my 30s and was pretty sad to have lost. I still held onto the mate thinking that I could even make one or something. Funny the things we hoard. So these earrings aren't really my style anymore, but I'm wearing them right now! They are just hunks of amethyst wrapped with a bit of wire that is attached to one of those earring hooks. I hardly ever wear earrings anymore unless I'm off to an interview or church or some special event.
Not sure when I'll start my new job. I am thinking next week. To prepare, I've done some reading on the subject of autism. I bought a novel or memoir from Amazon for my iPad for a start about a man with an autistic son who learns about therapy and such throughout. The story reads like a novel, but is likely based on truth. Also there are books books books on autism and teaching and parenting and on and on. I am always grateful for the skill of reading as it has served me well. I have to remind myself that reading about something is not a substitute for actually experiencing something, but it is great preparation!
Not doing great at all on my weightloss journey. I have been physically active, but eating is not under control at all. Hopefully being busy will get me to bed earlier and thus cut down on night snacking. I think I will still be active with my fitness routines.
I am so excited about earning money again! I am going to bank a lot and hopefully take a vacation in Europe in 2014. We are still planning to vacation this summer to SEattle. We may have to modify it some because I have a job, but we are still planning to go.
A few days ago I ordered a dryer cleaning kit from Flylady.net. A friend posted on FaceBook that she had a dryer fire and it wasn't her first. I had just recieved my kit. Today I used one of the brushes to loosen accumulated lint from the walls of the lint trap and used the vacuum attachment to get it out. Don't ignore this potential fire hazard in your own home! The kit also has tools for cleaning out the hose that goes outside. I am going to get my husband to work with me to clean that. I'm sure it will be an eye-opener to discover all the lint that will surely be there. Lint is very flammable! It's a good thing to start a fire with if you want to use it for something besides filling your trash can.
