Being Sore

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

That boot camp class on Sunday was much too tough for me. I didn't make it to the gym Monday OR Tuesday. I needed rest for my sore muscles! Both Monday and Tuesday I took a bath with Epsom salts. Yesterday I felt up to doing deep stretches using my yoga strap. Today I feel I've rounded a corner and don't hurt nearly as bad. My triceps still feel tender, but it's more or less better.

While pushing yourself is good to build strength, if it renders you too sore and unable to do anything for 2 additional days, is it still worth it? Or do you lose too much while waiting to feel better?

That IS a good question. Surely you should feel some soreness, but maybe not quite that much to take you out for two days. That seems a bit extreme.

But yay for stretching!

Hm...good question. One I unfortunately don't know the answer to, but personally I'd opt for the tough workout with rest. A couple of days of nothing but stretching is good for the soul anyway! :)
