Spark Coach - Setbacks

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

Write a blog about the last setback you faced. How did you overcome it, and what did you learn from it? Did you handle the situation in the best way that you could have, or would you go about it in a different way now?

My current setback is going on right now. It started a couple of weeks ago with some bad weather that kept me from the gym. It only took a couple of nights and I was out of the habit of going. Add to that a few bad nights at work, some rotten weather, and a bad attitude in general, and it's now been almost two weeks since I've darkened the door there.

On top of that, my eating habits have been horrible. I'm eating high calorie, low nutrition foods, and drinking more wine than I should.

What I'm learning? I need to kick myself in the ass and go to the gym. I need to start carrying my little notebook in my pocket to keep track of what I eat. And most of all, I need to drop the bad attitude.

Yep! Me too! I think I'll do some yoga tomorrow since I always feel so much better mentally and physically after doing yoga. I don't know why I feel better but it's like 180 degree turnaround mentally. If I don't do yoga tomorrow then I'll rake leaves. Then I'll do yoga the next day. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

This is for me too! Thanks for posting!
I'm in a blah kind of place right now.... sigh.
I know what I need to do, but just can't seem to get there.

I hear you. I had money issues and couldn't pay this month i have now, now i have to get unembarrased and go in and face the owner. i need you to go to the gym and blog about it so i have the courage to go to my favorite place again. you know the place where you get that feel good feeling. The gym where you spend quality time with only you and you take care of you. the place where we have that feel good music on our ipods. I miss it but i cant seem to get my feet to carry me there I hear you .

Good for you! Dropping the attitude and getting back at it is key. It'll get easier with fewer episodes in between.

Sometimes we all have those weeks and we do have to kick our own behinds to get back in those good habits but the payoff is well worth it and you can do it!!

Honest assessment! I think that's always a great place to start because you know you need to get out of that place and move forward. Sometimes I can't even honestly figure out why I'm sabotaging myself and it makes it harder to jump start my positive behaviors. Yes, attitude is a HUGE part of this healthy lifestyle :)

Let the new season of spring - right around the corner - be your goal to get back in the habit of exercise and eating right! Start a streak, start again, and get out of the house. Maybe try something new, instead of just the gym - go for a walk. I need a kick in the butt, too!

Sometimes we just have to kick our own selves in the butt for discipline and keep right on moving. My current repeat mantra is "Don't give up what you want most for you want now." I can apply it to almost anything I have to make a choice about. And there is always a choice to be made. I'm the only one that can lose the weight so I can become the healthiest I can be so I gotta do what I gotta do and no excuses or getting in my own way.

I wish you continued success on your journey!

Whoa! Kick me too! I have been so lazy about consistent exercise and have been eating everything I shouldn't!
Let's start new and move forward!
