Dangers of Sitting

I just read an article in the Huffington Post (
atives_n_1695618.html ) that talks about the dangers of sitting for long periods of time or having a sit down job... which I have. It is pretty scary.

Today, I commit to getting up and away from my desk more frequently, engaging in more physical activity and doing desk exercises when possible. I want to encourage all of you that have to sit for more than one hour at a time at work or in some other area of life to make the same commitment.

One trick that helps at home is getting up and exercising during the commercials when you are watching television.

We don't have fall victim to the negative consequences in this article! We can do better!

    I get up from my desk every hour and walk for 2 minutes before sitting back down. It helps me stay awake plus...steps count!!!

    Hi and thanks for the friend add - i've done the same. Congrats on the 35# loss thus far, may you continue to have great success. I'm also a desk jockey but drinking my water like I should makes me get up all day long and sometimes I even get in a jog to the bathroom emoticon

  Thanx for sharing this tidbet. We should be getting up and moving anyhow as we are told, when you're at a computer, to get up and move, even if you're not! Good information! We have breaks and what we do with those are totally up to us! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
