Something a friend of mine does for her son while he is deployed is take pictures of things that are happening that he would have been there for and journal it for him. So it is like he was there. I am not sure if she mailed it to him or gave it too him when he came back. But I have heard him talk about it and loved the idea.

Aren't you proud of him. The military offers so many opportunities to learn skills - on the government's dime. There are many noncombat situations he can be assigned to. We will be praying for him, as I know you will. Surviving boot camp is the first priority!
