Never a dull moment...

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

My life is pretty ordinary. However, my children are very good at keeping me on my toes.

So much drama...

This weekend I went to watch my college age daughter complete in her 2nd to last competition of her gymnastics career. She slightly hyper-extended her right knee in a landing on the vault during warmup. When she switched to uneven parallel bars she jumped down from the high bar and in order to favor her injured leg she put her whole weight on her left leg. She landed funny, hyper-extended her good leg. A lot of pain followed and then a trip to the emergency room.
Her knee was so swollen that they could not properly see the x-ray. Today at the Dr's office, after a CAT scan they confirmed the worst. She has a major fracture of her upper tibia and ligament damage. They will do a MRI in two days to see if there is damage to the ACL.
So, we have 6-8 weeks in a cast and 6-8 weeks in a knee brace and therapy to look forward to.

My children, you gotta love 'em.

Wow! well, cheer and gymnastics ARE the most dangerous sport out there. My daughter just had someone full frontal throttle....into her face!! broke her nose. The coach didn't even call us...just reset, gave her ice and she came home with a shiner. Holy Moly!!

Your poor daughter! She must be in so much pain and so disappointed! Be sure to take care of yourself while you are taking care of her!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this.
Be sure to take some time to yourself - a mom's job is never really done.

Sorry about your childs injury and how you probably hurt for her but you gotta applaud her effort what a difficult sport to try to excel in. I wish her better luck in the future when she heals. I know she will make you prouder next time.

I think they can teach us never to give up.
