Contemplating a change...please give me your opinion

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

I have been contemplating going wheat free for the next 4 weeks of the Biggest Loser challenge in order to get to where I would like to be at the end but I'm not sure. I'm also thinking of going Paleo too. I'm wondering which way is best and hoping my Spark friends will have some helpful input for me.

I think it's a good idea because it can benefit in other ways besides weight loss. My husband gave up wheat/gluten after reading the Wheat Belly book and it's helped clear up some painful digestive issues he's had for years. He thought he was just lactose intolerant but apparently he has a wheat intolerance too (though not as bad as celiacs).

I managed to cut 80% of wheat out of my diet for a while, but I'm back to eating it all the time. I did notice my energy levels were higher before, but I think it's because I ate a ton of fresh veggies, too. Been slipping a bit lately.

My best advice is to choose a simple gluten-free plan to start with. You may not want to go Paleo b/c it's a little too restrictive about all forms of starch IMHO. But you may find that gluten-free is an option and want to go full Paleo, too. Hope this helps a little. Best wishes for success in your Biggest Loser challenge!
