I'm still running. I've probably gone about 160 miles so far this year- is that good?
I'm really starting to notice an improvement. I was struggling to keep at a 15 minute mile pace a few months ago and that was on a treadmill.
This past Saturday I ran a 10 mile race and I kept about a 13:30 pace and it was on an incredibly hilly road. I had my runkeeper app going and after I completed it I got a notification that it was the longest duration, distance and elevation to date and I've been going with Runkeeper since 2011.
I had someone who was working the event say that he saw me pass the starting line and he wasn't sure if I could make it, then he saw me run the loop at the 5 mile mark and I made it at about 1 hour 10 minutes and he said he still wasn't sure I would make it. He came up to me after the race to say how impressive it is that I could keep up my pace more or less for the entire time- The 2 hours 25 minutes was clock time and I haven't found out my chip time yet... I had to use the bathroom at 5 minutes until start and of course there was a line so I was a late starter.
I haven't lost much if any weight this entire year but I'm not going to let that stress me out. I'm down maybe 3 lb this year but if I lost no weight and lost 1 minute 30 seconds from my run time. I'll take it!
I'm about half way through my half marathon training program. Tomorrow I'm going to buy the entry for another half marathon or two. I'm addicted now. I hope when I'm a little old lady I can have 100 medals!
