One of our weekend challenges for our Bingo board was to try something new whether it was an exercise or a recipe - we were just to have fun.
Well I signed up for a Belly Dancing class. Needless to say I was little apprehensive about it but I figured I would give it a try.
I went to the class and I had gotten a (I don't even know what you call it) a hip scarf from my niece that has all the beads and coins on it. So I took the scarf with me. I arrived about 10 minutes early as I wanted to go in and get a feel for this adventure. As a result of coming early I had a chance to meet and chat a bit with the teacher who made me feel extremely comfortable. She offered me a hip scarf and I told her I had brought my own (how presumptuous of me).
The other ladies started filing in and she told them all we have a new student and the ladies were all friendly. One even came and helped me tie my hip scarf to lessen the chance of it falling off. How nice of her.
I loved the way the teacher taught the class she was patient, funny and delightful in taking her time to break down a complete dance to insure that we learned all the steps and was doing them properly.
It was an hour class and before the class was over I was sweating and I could feel the workout of the muscles in my shoulders, waist, hips, butt and my legs. So I will be going back ever week and who knows I may have some new moves to show my husband. LOL
I'm already thinking I need a wardrobe of different color scarves to match my outfits and some for my wrists. I'm so glad of that challenge square - to try something new as I may not would have considered Belly Dancing. If there a class offered in your area I highly recommend that you try it.
