Believe it or not the staff at the hospital where I go is a compassionate caring staff. I have only run accross 2 nurses that i'd rather do without in about 14 months. The first one only checked y vitals once and went off and left me on the floor alone with my iv maching beeping for over 45 minutes. (i reported her and she got fired) the 2nd is a retired nurse who dropped the iv bottle with 15,000.00 medicine in it and tried to hide the fact she dropped and chipped the bottle. She's now fully retired. The nurse i had yesterday was trying to make it easier on me by using an alcohol prep to rub the tapes off.

Next month I plan to ahve my lower arm waxed before treatment.

Today there is a golf ball sized swelling at site where the iv is or was. The IV must ahve come out and the medicine got in my tissues. It is vital that the medicine gets in my VEINS. It was not swollen or painful during treatment.

I am grateful i'm doing well today.

Perhaps it is time to have a chat with a patient advocate. They will listen and talk to the nurses about your concern for your next visit. If they did it right before and it has been tolerable then everyone should do it the way it was tolerable for you.

That is why most hospitals have patient advocates. They help to keep the patient in charge of their care. If there is something that has to happen and make you uncomfortable they should say. This might hurt, this might swell. I hope you can talk with someone about this so they can do better next time. Sorry for your discomfort,HUGS Pat in Maine LOVE YOU DEBS. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I believe patients should all be treated the way I would want my parents treated.

Good that the one nurse got fired and the other is fully retired. No need for you or anyone else to have to deal with such people!
