Push That Tush -- Wallflowers?

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

I've been exposed to at least 2 commercials that continue playing in my head long after they are gone. One is a Miller Commercial and the other is the current Microsoft Outlook Commercial...both feature a song called
CAN'T HOLD US (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - feat. Ray Dalton)

Here We Go Back, This Is The Moment
Tonight Is The Night, Weíll Fight Till Itís Over
So We Put Our Hands Up Like The Ceiling Canít Hold Us

I am NOT a rap fan...
and the part of the song that both commercials focus on is
RAY DALTON (he is the black singer with the incredible voice).
Ray is a nice looking guy but overweight...he doesn't hop off the screen.
His appearance is a lot like his voice...smooth and mellow.
I think to myself...
imagine what that guy could do if his appearance were better.
I know it sounds like something a lot of us have heard in our lives...
"Such a pretty face...imagine if you lost weight"
but sadly it is true.
Look at Jennifer Hudson...
the cameras love her and she even got a standing ovation at the Oscars.
And nobody ever sang the STAR SPANGLED BANNER better (see YouTube)
Lots of opportunities and contests go to the folks
who look more the part...
that's life.

Meanwhile .... I love exercising to the song CAN'T HOLD US.
It's got to be the beat...I can't help it...rhythm is in my genes.

Gonna move my tush today...even if I have to do it indoors emoticon

Beautiful butterfly! What a great song (and voice). I wish we were getting rain! We got a little of the storm last night but then it moved east. At least the violas and the pansies got watered and I got to garden in the sunshine and 70 degrees this afternoon! Happy Tuesday.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets "earworms". I can hear part of a tune, or even hear someone say something and I'll get a tune stuck in my head. emoticon

I have requested that when i die if ANYONE says 'she had such a pretty face" that my DH and my BFF are to deck them! The most hated phrase in any overweight girls life. And yet, i find myself thinking the same thought. When i look at photos of some of our friends who have lost a lot of weight, i think how amazing it is that they are so much handsomer/prettier now. It truly is entrenched in our culture.

I totally loved the Ray Dalton part and was really into it. Nice voice!! The blithering rap sucked big time though and I was wondering if I could live long enough to get to the good part. LOL. I do like some rap but it's very limited. This is not the kind of rap I like. LOL. Hopefully Ray Dalton will move his talent on to better things.

I've seen that singing group twice now on TV. I agree that the one guy is a great singer. I think it's easier to be overweight when you are a man. Macklemore and Ryan don't seem nearly as interesting as the soloist did. It crossed my mind that they had to dress more flamboyantly and hop around a lot to compensate for having less talent.

I think Jennifer Hudson gets attention for having lost weight but also because of all the tragedy in her life that she's having to live past. I often think she lost a lot of the weight with the help of her husband who is an ultimate fighting contestant and likely a fitness freak. I think she's really cute and a great singer. I hope she can get a movie role that is as great as her Oscar-winning role in DreamGirls. Maybe she can go on Broadway and get an award there and also on TV. She's still pretty young. Sigh...I watch too much TV!

Rap always gets a bad rap. emoticon It isn't the music I'm opposed to, just some of the lyrics. There are also a lot of really good rap songs with positive messages and a beat to dissipate the flab.

Love Tobymac!

Not a rap fan either but the back beat lends to exercise well.
