It's a Head-Heart Thing

I'm struggling with the balance.

If you have ever tried to shed pounds and get healthy, then you know the difference between success and failure is the mind-body connection. You have to get your head in the game to be successful. No excuses. It's nobody's game but your own. You have to do it for yourself. And it's all or nothing. When your mind is focused on your goals, nothing ~ temptation, bad weather, injury, holidays.... can stop you from achieving the goals you set. Your mind is in control.

If and when Life Happens (and we know it always does) ~ the time comes that you allow deviation from "The Plan".... vacation, holidays, illness, temptation, an out-of-town friend's visit, stress, a really late night and a week goes by. You know the body's back in control.

But the biggest hurdle is getting the body back under control by the mind. The mind says "I really need to work out tonight" but the body says "I'm tired, have a chill and want to watch tv." The absolute hardest thing to do is to get back in the saddle once you've been thrown.

    You aren't kidding! The longer you are on the journey and the more steps you have built, the easier it is. If you are just starting or facing a lot, it is harder. If you have been successful in the past..then get thrown....boy oh boy...the mind will really mess with you! You KNOW you can! emoticon emoticon

    We are on the same wavelength, Candace, I wrote bout my mental struggles, in today's blog. Something in the air? Not sure, but there are many of us that are feeling this way, this week.

    So true girl friend! However, I find that Sparking will help me to focus on what I need to do. I think that the challenges help as well.

    Agree!. Totolly in the same place. Maybe set a timer for 10 minutes complete that and see how you feel from there. I am going to try that myself today. emoticon

    Agreed! Hardest part is to get started - whether it's the first time or the thousandth time. :) What works for me is to plan only a few minutes of exercise - just to get myself started - then I almost always end up doing more than I had "planned".
