Whatta Whirlwind Week...

Monday, March 11, 2013

Has it really been a whole week since I typed a blog?! I guess so!!! I'm finally on spring break though so now I can relax a little. :)

Last week I got my student teaching placement, and I got the school I really, REALLY wanted!!! :D :D :D I just got home from meeting with my CT and she is awesome, and I'm so excited. I'll be teaching 8th grade math and algebra next year, how incredible!!! When I first started taking classes part-time, 15 years ago while nursing an infant on my couch, I never thought...not in a million years...that I would actually FINISH SOMEDAY. And now, I'm a year away. Wow.

Also this past weekend was the opening of our Passion Play, and I have officially taken over a part in a scene. It's a small part and only a couple of lines, but to not even be a back-up, and be the main one they count on, wow. It's just humbling, that's all. Here's a link to what I'm talking about, in case you're curious:

One of the routines we do at our performances is have a potluck, and this past weekend, with the dress rehearsal and first performance, yeah I didn't do so well there. My goal for the rest of the performances is to do much better! My SPECIFIC goal is to have at least 2 servings of fruit or vegetable, and only ONE treat per performance. I think that's reasonable, and I can do it. :)

Finally, one last bit of news; I started running again this morning! UGH the first day back is always hard!!! But I did it, and my foot fared okay, and I'm glad I went! I did 2 miles this morning, in the rain, even though the radar showed no precip!!! But I was dressed for it, and I did great! 6 weeks to my first tri of the year. The bike will only be 13 miles, and the swim will only be 300 yards, so I'm not worried about those...it's the 5K run that's had me feeling apprehensive. But if I can do 2 miles now, then I can do 3 again by the end of the week and I'll be fine. Next week will be in the 50's and I'll be able to get out with my bike a few times and do some brick workouts. You could say I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about things. :)

I guess that's about all for now. I'm on spring break and my kids are in school, so I have a lot of cleaning projects lined up!!! Have a great week!

Ps. Make sure you get an official observation by the bldg principal or dept chair. Thats a big "selling point" when you go looking for your real job.

Now this rivht here is the best news of my day. Suck as much as you can out of your ct. Also go observe someother teachers in the building. It gives perspective.
At rehearsal eat your veggies first so you dont dive headfirst into the mac n cheese.
Dont judge your tri run by any other standard. Its one of the most difficult things you will ever do. Remember, your goal for your first triathlon....finish!!
Thankyou again for the good news!
