Stuck in a Rut

Monday, March 11, 2013

I have been in a terrible rut lately. I've been very melancholy the past week or so. This mood has carried over into my health.

I haven't been tracking my foods, I haven't hit the gym in over a week, I've been eating things I know I shouldn't, I've hit the wine a little too much. It's been a really crappy week health wise.

I think part of the reason is, I've been on a plateau for the past several weeks. No gain, no loss. I think another part of it is the weather. It's been several weeks of dismal weather. Little sunshine, lots of rain. Very, very blah.

I've been grouchy at work, grouchy at home. Not super fun to be around.

(Not saying my entire week was bad - had a good, no great, experience at work this week, had my niece's birthday party, spent time with my Mom, sister, aunt shopping, went bowling with the hubby, spent time with the kidlets. It's just not been the best week of my life).

So enough whining and carrying on. Onto next week.

Boy the two of us could be twins! emoticon I've been the same way except that I'm coming out of plateau. You'd think I'd be happy about that and I am but I'm just not in a great place mentally. I think a lot of it has to do with the weather and that we are all wishing spring would hurry up and get here. Oh and I've hit the wine a little too much recently too! emoticon emoticon

You might be gaining muscle and that is why the scale isn't moving. The scale isn't a true measurement of how you are doing.

It's a new week though and we can make things better. We need to focus on the positives and know that they outweigh the negatives. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hope you have a better week this week. I think we all have those kind of weeks. I experienced one of those weeks myself recently kind of the same thing everyday no sun and it sure affects my mood and what I feel like doing. The bright side is spring is around the corner and it is fixing to change. Just focus on changing one thing this week and let the rest fall in place. I do find when I exercise everyday it sure helps beating the blahs.

We all have weeks like that. Last week I made horrible eating discisions but I did work out. That was my only saving grace because if not I would have gained. I have only lost 5 pounds since new year and I work out almost 6 or more hours a week. However on the good side I am losing inches. Maybe you should take your measurements and throw the scale away for one month. Then take your inches in a month and jump on the scale that way if one does not go down I am sure the other will. It is so hard when you just want to see that number on the scale.

Wish you luck and hang in there. You have 5% to go!

I'm so sorry that you've felt like this! It's no fun when we let our weight put us in a bad mad that just won't go away. I don't have the answer for you; I wish I did! Just know that you are loved and supported here on SP and that we always want you to be successful!
I haven't been exercising like what I should-- none last week at all! Why??? When I know that's what it's going to take for me to lose weight? The only thing that kept me on track with my food was coming to SP and reading all the positive things that others are doing and saying.
Don't give up! Don't give in!! You can do this! We are here to support you!

Change can start as early as now. Just get back to one thing at a time, or set a goal for what you want to change today. Get moving, tracking and then add the other things like drinking your water, gym time and build momentum.

You can do this!

Best wishes! emoticon

Might be that time of the month. Sometimes when I get especially down about my weight staying the same, or for no apparent reason I do my tracking even more seriously so I can examine more closely what I am putting in my mouth.

Unfortunely this sometimes is a slow process and being patient is not so easy. It is good your distracting yourself with some fun with family. You might want to dwell also on all the healthy things you are doing for your life and future even if the scale does not lose.

If you are not eating healthy and just dieting that might be the problem.

Here is hoping this week is better. The sun is starting to shine and spring is here.
Renewal and Rebirth is symbolic of the season maybe a start over of positive affirmations and thinking might be in order to make you feel better. Reward yourself for all your good efforts on any level you deserve it.
