What a week!

Sunday, March 10, 2013

I know I have been absent from here a number of days, but with good reason. I knew I still was not feeling well after multiple antibiotics and multiple roads of antibiotics. This week was the worst yet. Finally I went back to my Doctor on Thursday feeling worse than ever. She decided then to order Home Health Care to try and help with clearing up some of my infections, and resolve some of my Home mobility issues that are always worse with illness. Friday the nurse came and the first thing they discovered while assessing my URI is besides the congestion the Doctor already was addressing with Inhalers, I had oxygen saturation's down to 83%! A normal is 90% or above. Mine did not even come close even while sitting at rest. So I am now on oxygen all the time. It certainly has helped me feel less sleepy and more alert than I was. They also have Therapy coming in this next week to try and help get my strength back. So needless to say, almost any exercise has been too taxing lately. Despite all that, I had dropped two more pounds at the Doctor's office, but I have not weighted at home lately to record a new weight on here. I have been eating what I could tolerate, but my appetite has been so bad, it has not been anywhere near what I should have eaten. I have eaten healthy though, probably because that is all we have available in the house now... which is good. We even ended up with some thin mint girl scout cookies, that my son decided to just freeze since none of us felt like being tempted by them, and they are still there...all of them!!! Right now, I am just focusing on getting well and staying out of the Hospital, which was the Doctor's other choice.

I am sorry to hear of your health issues, both long-term and short-term, but you are in the right place! I hope you feel much better very soon and can continue those important health problems. Frankly, it is VERY difficult doing what you should for good health when you feel lousy, so pat yourself on the back for every positive thing you do -- mentally, fitness-wise and foodwise. Just thinking of how proud you are of yourself for being in Spark, can smooth the way to another good thought which precedes good actions.

With limited mobility, have you checked into the ChairSitting videos? I remember people laughing at me when I would talk about them, but honestly, when my legs aren't working right, they are an excellent workout for me. You can find them online and I think they show you a tiny sample of what they are like.

Best wishes with all aspects of your program and for improved health.

Susan

Feeling punk is the worst. Hopefully the oxygen will help (my daughter was on it a year, but able to get off it after clots to the lung dissolved. Hope you will progress, too.)

Oh it is great that you are finally getting some help at home. I have had home care with my MS and it was great! They helped me so much and then I missed them when it ended. I hope this helps you get back on your feet. God bless! Love, Chelsea emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hopefully, when everything is straightened out, your oxygen will be back to normal. I'm still praying for you, so I'll add the oxygen problems to the prayer. Take care.
