In the 9th week of 2013 my husband and I took a winter vacation for the first time in our lives. We'd not flown together since about 1976 and I have only flown one other time, being last summer with a sister to attend the wedding of another sister. We went to Surprise, AZ and stayed with my sister and brother-in-law who have a home in Sun City Grand. This sister is 10 years older than me, but we had a hard time keeping up with those "old people". There's SO much to do there. We went to a spring training baseball game (Padres vs Rangers), golfed 3 times, played pickleball, went for walks, took a trip up to Sedona and did some hiking and sight-seeing, and spent some time relaxing on their patio with margaritas. It was so nice to get away from the Minnesota winter! We got off to a slow start when our flight was delayed several times and ended up that our 6:55 plane arrived over 4 hours later, but fortunately, the storm that was to hit Fargo at 6:00 was kind enough to also be delayed long enough that we didn't get stranded! By the time we got to Mesa and then got back to my sister's house, it was after 3 a.m. Our homecoming was also unpleasant in that the last 40 miles of driving home from the airport in Fargo was on very icy, snowy, slushy roads with poor visibility. But the days in between were totally relaxing, and even though it was hard to tear hubby away from the frozen lake and his beloved ice fishing, he admitted that he had a great time and when he took his blood pressure this morning the numbers were excellent, so the getaway must've been good for him! I think this is a tradition we definitely want to continue!
