Stretching

Sunday, March 10, 2013

The foam roller is helping. I am doing it now for 10 minutes before I exercise. Then after I walk on the treadmill I stretched for another 10 minutes. The 5% challenge LTGL is all about stretching this week -- came at a great time as I realized I need to really work on stretching my muscles.

This afternoon we went to a Christ in the Passover Presentation put on by the missionaries we had dinner with on Friday. It is amazing to see how God used the Passover to point toward Christ and redemption from sin.

Daily Goals:
1) Blog -- emoticon
2) Exercise at least 50 minutes. emoticon 83 min
3) Eat at least 5 freggies a day emoticon 3 servings
4) Instead of eating something unhealthy today, I will...be busy and gone most of the day.

Hi Susie - I guess I was a little unclear in my blog - goes to show try not to multi-task while writing:) I don't use the foam roller for stretching per say. I am basically using the roller to work out the knots I have. And as I said in my blog, it is helping with the knots. It isn't quite as painful as when I first started last week. I don't use it for the actual stretching exercises after I exercise.

After doing research, many trainers suggest rolling before exercise and some say before and after. I don't always get it done after because of time and stretching is the priority afterwards.

Is the roller to help with stretching? Seems funny to stretch before exercise (when you are not warmed up). Tell me more ...
