Weeping bitterly

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Matt 26:75
And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

I always read this verse and I think, wow, how Peter must have felt to hear those words from Jesus and to look in His face as He said them. And then to realize that after all the big talk about never denying Christ and even saying he would die with Christ, he denied Him the first time someone accused him of knowing Christ! I guess I would have cried my eyes out too!

But how about you my friend? Have you promised to never deny Christ and to stand with Him and to even die for Him, but at the first sign of upsetting someone or being made to look silly you forget that promise and you turn your back on Him? I know I have from time to time. Maybe it was when the Holy Spirit told me to witness to someone and I didn't because it wasn't PC to do. Or maybe when someone said something about Christ and I didn't stand up and proclaim why I have faith in Christ and explain what the Gospel means to me. Maybe I committed some sin and didn't fully repent of it. There are many times in my life where I have denied Christ and afterward wept bitterly.

But just as the Word of God shows us the weakness in man, it also shows us the power of God's Love! Even after Peter denied Christ, when Christ came back three days after being hung on a cross for us, He restored Peter and told him to feed His sheep. The man that said he didn't know Jesus is now being told BY Jesus to lead and tend to His flock Now if that is not love, I don't know what is!
Christ knows that we have so many issues in our lives that causes us to deny Him on a daily basis but through repentance and Christ's Love, we are forgiven. I know I have to go to Him everyday because of sin, but I thank Him for His Word in 1 John 1:9: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

So when you deny Jesus or grieve the Holy Spirit, remember, Go to God in prayer and ask for forgiveness and know that Our Father will forgive you because of His Son Jesus Christ and your faith in Him!

Have a bless week in the Lord my friends
In Jesus Name, Amen

Thank you for this reminder and how good your timing is since Easter is just a few weeks away. Can't help but think of how sad Peter was on the day Christ was crucified or, how wonderful it felt that Christ forgave him. I am thankful everday for God's grace.

Yay! I love that you've posted a blog for us. Bless you, dear Hawt. And what a great message you've shared with us. Just like Peter, we are friends with Jesus, intimate friends, close friends. He knows us through and through, knows we will fail Him, and still, STILL, calls us into service to advance the kingdom of God. Isn't that amazing?!! It is so refreshing to wallow around in the washing of the water of the word that you have brought to us. Love you much, my friend.
