Hey Sparkfriends! I'm back from Jamaica a little more tan, a lot more relaxed, and completely happy to have spent the past week in such a great country. :) We went down as a working/researching field trip as part of a class I'm taking, so I got to see a lot more of the "real Jamaica" than you get if you hit the island on a cruise or at a resort. We were bushwacking through the jungle, we did an outreach afternoon at a local school, we hung out with the guys on the staff, and somehow managed to get some chemistry done, too.

There was some form of snorkeling and hiking every single day, and the food - oh! the food! I became mildly obsessed with breadfruit, and then we also had pineapple, jerk chicken, rice and beans, fish, goat, veggies, stews, plantains, yams, papaya - tropical island cuisine is just the best thing on the planet! Two amazing Jamaican women cooked all of our meals for us at the research station and I was really sad to leave them behind. I don't think I've ever eaten so well, or so much. But everything was so fresh and wholesome, and we spent so much time swimming and hiking, that I still came home a few pounds lighter than before I left. I'm very motivated to keep up with the healthy eating and exercising and I cannot WAIT for summer to finally chase this winter weather away! I am so grateful to have been able to go on this trip, and now I've got my Spark on full stop.
