CHALLENGER75's BLC Challenge Blog

Sunday, March 10, 2013

I was going to wait until I returned home midweek to blog but then realized there was a BLC challenge goal and I want to help my team out.

I already knew that I loved to walk while in Pensacola. The ground just feels different than in SW Missouri. I have enjoyed my short treks around the campground where our motorhome is parked.

And I can now proudly say that I have completed my first 5K. I participated in the 36th Annual McGuire's Run. 16000+ participants! Wow! And what costumes! My green longsleeved shirt was comfortable to walk in but very sedate. I have a pic with a THAT was a costume. And the robot...who eventually lost his robot head. I didn't have a bucket list goal of walking a 5K, but I can say that I have done it.

So what's on my mind?

I am glad that I started this fitness journey with Sparkpeople. I wouldn't have been able to participate in this fun event three springs ago. I guess I would have - slowly - but I wouldn't have had the self confidence that I have now to go ahead and do it. That isn't necessarily because of my weight loss, but because of the acceptance and encouragement that I have found here at Sparkpeople.

I will post pictures once I get home.
