Reached my first major goal today!!!!

I started living a new healthy lifestyle in December and my first major goal was to lose 10% of my starting weight. Today I achieved that goal and I couldn't be happier.

I woke up this morning with terrible back pain, but I made myself go to the gym. I weighed in and I have officially lost 30 pounds! I'm beyond happy and proud of my successes. I fit better in my clothes, my pants are all falling off my hips and I'm looking forward to more hard work and more successes.

My next major goal is to be under 250 pounds, something I haven't been for probably more than 7 or 8 years. I want to get rid of my "depression" weight and get physical again. I used to consider myself an athlete, and I so want to have that again in the future. I want to be 250 by the end of May.

May 4th is a 5k race that my friends and I are walking. But I've also heard about another 5k on June 15 of this year. That date holds a lot of history for me. On that day in 1997, my oldest friend died. He was 17. He has almost been gone as long as he was on this earth and I started this healthy lifestyle due partially to this friend. How can I still be alive, still allowed to live past age 17 and I waste that time by gaining weight and living a sad and sedentary life? How can I do that? So I finally got serious and decided that it was time to start living a life that Jason would be proud of and a lifestyle that I can be proud of as well. So, I'm hoping to do the June 5k as well and to be fifty pounds lighter by then would be a great way to celebrate the much too short life of my friend.

I've had a pretty good weekend! I only avoided doing my homework so it'll be an early day tomorrow to get some of my reading done. I go to a naturopathic doctor on Friday this week and am spending the weekend with my mom since her birthday is Sunday. I'm excited but also nervous about my habits and me staying strong enough to maintain the healthy choices I've been making for two and a half months.
