Never Give Up!!!

Sunday, March 10, 2013

I started my journey on 1/6/13 at 195#. Since then I had lost 16# until yesterday...I gained a pound. I was very upset. All my hard work, exercising every day, eating better, tracking everything...and I gained!!! (I know it's only a pound but it was still a gain to me!) I was ready to give up! Then I thought, how silly? I have been working very hard, doing things I never thought I could, walking 1.75 miles every day, strength training every day, eating more veggies and fruits I should be proud of how far I've come in a little over 2 months!!! So I decided the scale wasn't the only way to evaluate my progress. So, I took my measurements, and I am proud to say I have lost 13.4 total inches since I started. I figured my BMI and it has gone down 2.47 points since 2/17/13! I had my DH take pictures when I started and I had him take more today.....below are the results. All of my pants are very loose on me!!! I WAS SO EXCITED!!!! So, just to reiterate what Sparkpeople always says, the scale is just a number! It's not the only measure of success in our journeys!!! We can do this!!!! We didn't gain this weight overnight so we're not going to lose it overnight!!! Keep pushing!!! We can do this!!!!

I can tell the difference, between the pictures. Keep up the good work. The scale is not our friend. Just 1 very small piece of the puzzle. Since the middle of dec. I have lost 4.6 lbs. very upsetting. I have been working out like crazy. I have lost some inches but not much. I think I am going to have to lower my calories, cuz, I am not losing, and I can't exercise that much more. Don't get discouraged over a l lb gain, or even a couple of lbs. it can be anything, doing that to you. emoticon emoticon
I have been wanting to give up, but, what is the alternative, gaining weight, and I don't want to go there. It hurts now, to have the extra weight.

    Done Girls Rock.

I'm reading Richard Bernstein MD's "The Diabetic Diet" and he says that sugar makes us have cravings, and he says all obese people are INSULIN RESISTANT. I'm sure that I am and that is why I'm reading his book. He has lectures on Youtube. He has had Type 1 diabetes since he was 12 and he is 78 now. Very interesting man.
