I have finally done it, I have lost 50 pounds. I have to say it feels incredible! I am down 3 shirt and pants sizes. It has taken me about 6 months to get rid of that weight. I have found amazing peace and confidence in myself and my abilities. I learned that I am much stronger than I thought.
Today I ran the Corktown 5k here in Michigan. Last year, my friend called me and asked me to walk along with her. So we took both of my small children, in our jeans and street shoes and headed downtown Detroit. Once we were there the energy was incredible. My friend looked at me and said, let's run some... that was the beginning of my change. That day we finished the race hot, sweaty and proud in 53 minutes. After that race I was still not ready 100% to commit to changing my life. Over the summer I gained back every bit of the weight that I lost and had to start again in September of 2012.
One year from that first change, 50 pounds lighter, I crossed the finish line in 41 minutes!!! I have never felt so proud of myself. What an accomplishment! I know when I first started this journey, I began reading other peoples blogs I remember thinking that people who lost 50 pounds must have done some significant and impossible things to have lost that weight. I was so over whelmed. Now that I am part of that 50 pounds lost club I can say, that is not so.
I don't follow any crazy rules of what I can't eat, I eat what I choose, (yes, even pizza) and best of al I still have my goodies (I have a major sweet tooth). I am a regular person. I am still super busy, I work full time, I am finishing my masters degree and I am a mommy to two little girls. If I can make the changes and change my life forever, so can you. The changes I have made are simple: I track my food using spark people, I drink as much water as I can, and I move my body. I usually work out about 3- 4 hours a week. (Think 45 minutes a day). I truly love who I am and what I am now. I hope that you join me on this amazing journey.
