GI Results/New Updates

Sunday, March 10, 2013

So the test results are all back in. Of course, the polyps in early cancer. That's been removed and the thing they couldn't possibly tell me over the phone was that I have peptic ulcer disease so I'm on meds for that. She just sat there shaking her head cause she can't figure out why, at my age, I'm dealing with all of this.

Still in pain though. Last night, I gave in and went to the ER. Of course, all tests are normal. All in my head as usual. However, the dr can't read the ct scan results and says there is nothing wrong with my kidneys (I thought I may have stones again. He did warn me he is not an expert in reading them so I have to give him some credit. I told him he was wrong and that I had a ct last week that showed cysts on/in the kidneys....same as I have for the last few years. The computers weren't working right at the hospital and they could not send my scan to radiology to review them so it wasn't a positive diagnosis but he said with all the symptoms I'm having he believes I have shingles. SHINGLES?!?!?!? Are you serious?? I'm too young for shingles. I'm barely half the age where they will even give me the vaccine. They sent me home with meds and I'm suppose to stay relaxed and try not to stress. Do they know my life??? lol

Apparently the ct scan was read but only to make sure there were no kidney stones. They aren't checking for anything else. Idiots!!! I have red bumps around my back and on my chest. I've been taking Acyclovir but I ran out. I took my script in for Valcyclovir, however, my insurance doesn't cover it and I don't have $140 to cover it. I tried to refill my Acyclovir but because I have been taking so much of it to combat shingles I'm too early to pick it up. UGH! At least the burning itching painful feeling is no longer there. I just deal with skin itching.

Now, my next thing is, I think my allergy to wheat may be getting worse. Obviously, I can't eat it and I can't have it touch my face or I break out in blisters. I haven't had (that I've noticed) any reaction to touching wheat. I have these itchy, scaly, pink and white patches of skin all over my chest, back and arms and they have been here for months. I read an article about wheat allergies causing these patches. I have been making sure I don't touch any wheat for a couple of weeks now but I let the kids bring home fried chicken last night and they were eating leftovers today. Every inch of my skin itches, no redness or swelling, but I do look like one would after a sunburn where the skin is flaking off. I scrubbed and scrubbed until my arms hurt. Then I put on a petroleum based cocoa butter lotion and it helped for a while. I'm having flashbacks of actually having chicken pox lol. Even my kids are yelling at me to stop scratching like I have fleas! emoticon

One of the best thing you can do right now is control your stress. I agree with MOM2ACAT, you can get shingles at any age if you had chicken pox. We always said it was an old people problem but it can hit anyone. I pray that you do not have shingles and that your CT scan is read by a competent radiologist.

If you've ever had chicken pox, you can get shingles at any age, though it is more common in older people.

I had shingles once in my early 40's; my doctor said I probably got them at that time because my immune system was weakened by the radiation treatments for cancer that I was going through at the time. The gradually cleared up with medication, but they sure were painful! Thankfully, they have not returned.
