Good morning but now it's raining!

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Well, got up early this am (not as early as normal with the time change). I really felt like running, and I dressed for it. I harnessed up both dogs and out we went. Unfortunately, I was VERY stupid about my new shoes/inserts yesterday. Even though they are very comfy and help with my shin splints, they cause my foot to strike differently and thus some extra stress on my calf muscles. This translates to not being able to run more than a few blocks. So we walked. We went up and down every single street in Whiting.

It started to rain but we kept walking. The temperature started to drop, we kept walking. Rain picked up, we kept walking. We walked for an hour until my hands just got too cold to keep going. So we headed home. I covered about 3.8 miles.

So, now we are home and I have a ton of house work to do. Both girls are passes out (Gypsy on the couch, Tazzy in the middle of the floor). My leg is still hurting, but not terribly. Just "ouchie", nothing that is going to stop me at all.

I really want to get back outside, but it has turned into one of those "soaking" rains. Nothing I want to be outside in. Yuck! So I guess I'm going to just break down and do house work.

Hahaha! My first thought was I would have to have a breakdown to do housework! And, to walk in cold, bitter rain! I'm proud of you Girl! I work so I can pay someone to clean my house! Jack has an appointment tomorrow. I'm so worried! He is sleeping in my doorway now. Love that boy!

Horrors! Not housework! I usually put that off until there's nothing else i can consume my time with, lol. Sounds like you had a great day regardless of the rain.

I know that feeling of "sore" when trying something new. A muscle you didn't know you had or one you did but it now "speaks" to you in a different tone. Great job on continueing even though it was raining! emoticon

Kind of a bummer when the weather forces you to do housework.

It rained here yesterday and then turned into snow. We didn't get much and it's mostly melted already, but I'm so grateful for the moisture I can't even complain about being cooped up inside all day yesterday.

My poor ol' doggie just isn't up for that kind of walk. I walked with him a few times last summer for short walks up and down the street, but there are too many loose dogs around here for me to be comfortable with that.

It's been raining here off and on since last night. Good for you for walking anyway! It's probably good that you didn't run though since your feet and legs need to get use to your new shoes. Hope you get a chance to relax a little today. emoticon

    Kitty,

You did great on your 5K Whoo Hoo!! Those hills sounded difficult. My last 5K was the opposite of yours. I figured there would be hills so I trained on hills so I would be ready for them and there was no hills. Did that make me faster, No. I barely made it that day lol but I was ready. TG there was no hills I think I would have not been able to keep it up if there had been hills. Great sounding 5K and a great time. I will always admire the runner because I will never want to run myself. Walking will always be my mode of moving the most. I totally hate when my close clogs up or runs when I am in a race, it really drives me crazy. I can't believe you ran with the dogs right after a 5K, you are good. Then you even did another walk that same day. My 5K I came home sat in the recliner and crashed the rest of the day and my dog had to just suck it up. lol

I am glad you did not run today, it sounds like your legs need some recovery time to heal as well as you probably need to stay out of those shoes for awhile. That was my hardest thing to do today. I have had such a good full exercise week and then I cheated last night a bit so I so wanted to burn it off today, but I have to listen to my body and just lay low today so I am catching up on everyones blogs and I read all your march blogs and loved them all. I especially liked the hockey and thinking one as well as the picture day one.

I am acknowleging that my body needs at least one day of rest a week. So lazy is the thing today and hit it hard and early tomorrow and you need some rest also for the big week ahead. I am so glad you are on the BLC it is nice to have a familiar face in the crowd as well as motivator. I like that you said the motivation comes from inside you. That is very true. Some people motivate you to wake up that self motivation to get in gear but it is you that needs to do the motivational work.!! Hugs Susan

My Cooper won't walk in the rain. It was sunny and warm here today, so I walked him for over 3 hours this afternoon. He is a happily tired pooch now!

3.8 miles sounds like a great walk, and lots of exercise for both you and the girls !!
But after the soaking rain, and long walk, I can think of other things to do than housework. emoticon How about relaxing with your girls, and good book ????

Squats! Lunges! Load up a video! Put on some music and boogie until you feel your face getting moist. You gotta take advantage while the mood is upon you for that little bit extra
