OK, now let's get SERIOUS...

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Looking down through some of my team mates' weight logs, I see some question marks and exclamation marks, suggesting, "With all my activity, why am I not losing?"

Now we know it took weeks of bad habits to put it on, so we should not be surprised if it takes even longer for our bodies to recognize that it's ok to let go of some of the weight. And we also know if normal "monthly" circumstances may be influencing the scales. And we also know if we haven't been totally sticking to our weight loss plans.

But come on now, sometimes none of that is the reason. So then what? We don't keep doggedly down the same path to another disappointing weigh-in. We change our strategy!

Do veggie juices for a couple of meals. Eat a LOT less. Stop eating at 5:00 p.m. each day, and don't eat again until 8:00 a.m. the next day. Lower your carb intake (fewer whole grains too--they're good for us but still pack a lot of calories).

I'm mixing up all of these because what worked in the past is not working any more. My body was not using all the food I was putting into it--it was storing it...even with doing 120 minutes of exercise most days. Well...my new combination of plans is at least causing me to lose a lb per week (I'm 67 years old, so I don't expect to lose more per week). Be my guest...try any and all! And if you have one you want to share with me, PLEASE DO! I want to keep losing.

Great tips! When I have gains, I usually know exactly what caused it since I use the food tracker. It's almost always due to evening snacking!

Great ideas! I'm hoping changing up the amount of exercise time helps as I haven't been able to get in too much this weekend.

There is also the possibility of not eating enough. Someone once told me that if you don't get enough fuel your body does start to store and you plateau. That's why SP increases the calorie intake when we increase our fitness goals.
