Well, this has been on my mind for some time now. So here goes….. this is a conversation between my conscience and myself.
Conscience: Why are you not losing weight?
Me: I’m lifting heavier weights. I need to tone up.
Conscience: You are just plain eating more food than you need. Isn’t this true?
Me: I guess I do at times. “sigh”
Conscience: Come clean…..you are snacking way too much.
Me: True, but
Conscience: No buts. You can do this. You just don’t discipline yourself enough.
Me: I work out hard!
Conscience: Really? Do you push yourself on the elliptical? Could you put the resistance up a little higher and still make it?
Me: But…
Conscience: NO BUTS! Remember!
Me: All RIGHT! Don’t scream at me. I get it. I’ve been lazy. I’ll do better.
Conscience: Will you? You said that for Lent you were going to stay off the computer until you got everything done that needed to be done in the mornings. Have you?
Me: Some days. But there have been circumstances. Like sick grandkids.
Conscience: True. So I’ll give you that one. So Lent is half over. What now?
Me: I’m going back to my original plan AND I’m going to stop the grazing during the day. Fruit will be my snack of choice. AND I won’t eat later than 8p.m. of an evening. I’ll watch my portions. We won’t be eating out either! So how is that?
Conscience: I’ll hold you to it and if you mess up….I’ll remind you! That is a promise!!
