March totals so far...

Sunday, March 10, 2013

They are not the totals I was hoping to post but all I can do is keep reaching...

Weight loss - not even going to talk about this one. The scale is going in the WRONG direction.
Miles - 8.42/50
Pull ups - 9/50...unassisted but embarrassing totals
Push ups - 270/1,000
Burpees - 85/500...a new goal added as they are so very effective

Lessons learned so far this challenge -

1. Take things one day at a time
2. The scale is evil and can change SO much daily based on water, salt etc.....
3. Watch the nuts. Too many calories if you do not watch your portion size
4. Do not allow yourself to get hungry, then you break and crave BAD carbs
5. Relax, it is just weight. It is just a number. Focus daily on the positives in your life
6. Stretch.
7. Think before you eat. Are you hungry or thirsty....
8. Stop trying to make it happen overnight. You let yourself go over the past several months, it will not come back instantly.
9. Watch the salt.
10. It is going to be hard getting back, but worth all effort. Stay focused.

Next weeks schedule -

Sunday - Run/walk easy with family, pull ups and push ups
Monday - Run/Walk 4 miles and KB's at the gym
Tuesday - ST circuit at home
Wednesday - Run/Walk 4 miles and KB's at the gym
Thursday - Walk - 6 miles
Friday - Walk/Run 4 miles and KB's at the gym
Saturday - Long walk with family
Sunday - Rest or long walk with family

Nutrition goals - Greens, greens and more greens.

While they may not be the numbers you were hoping for, they still indicate postive movement towards your overall goals. You're accountable and pushing forward, that WILL pay off in the end. You can do it!

Jen, you are doing great! I also want to point out that your weight AND your goals are separate from YOU as a person. You are not a "bad" person or a failure if you do not reach your goals or do not like the weight on the scale. You can only try as hard as you can. Each person only gets 24 hours in a day, and none of us has the luxury of focusing 100% on ourselves.

Also, don't forget to recognize how far you have come. I would bet that when you were first embarking on this journey, you would have been so happy to see the number that is on the scale right now. Also, I will never forget a comment you left on one of my blogs that meant SO MUCH to me - I had run a disappointing half marathon and you made the comment that you would have been thrilled with my time - just remember, numbers - weight, finish times, pullups, etc are just that - a number. They are only as important as we make them!

Stay focused! I love your positivity. This is a good list of reminders for me, too. Despite all my hard work (good eating and lots of exercising) my scale is going in the wrong direction. We can do this!

The "journey" part of your name is the truth. Sometimes things get rough on the journey, we twist our ankle or have someone or something hijack us. The rescue and rehab is doing what we know to do. Your journey has acquired a precious cargo. She can hijack you with a smile. Let her smile, but take her along the fit path and she will grow up knowing what to do by Mom's stellar example.

Those sound like really good goals. Keep pushing ahead and trust the process. I am struggling with trying to regain ground, too. Thanks for telling us about your struggles.
Ignore Mr. Evil Liar, aka scale, because you are doing great!

I wanted to thank you for posting something like this because I'm also in the same place... I've fallen off the wagon and have been slacking as well. It's nice to see that other people are struggling as well but still pushing! Keep going girl, we can do this!

Dear Jen, I have such empathy for you. I had high hopes of losing the 20 pounds I gained in one week :), but it's not moving in the right direction at all. We can and will do this! You are doing great! We will get there!!

I like ALL the "lessons" learned. I'd go as far as try some completely new approach--- maybe not weighing myself everyday and TRUSTING that you are doing your best every day and that the weight loss is going to happen....
Life is too short to be stressed out like that- and I think that being truly happy comes from a place within where you are 1) accept yourself for who you are at this very moment with all the weight, all the flaw etc 2) figure out what is important to you with regards to your nutrition and exercise... and what that magic balance is-- and then 3) do your best every time to reach your realistic goals that will make you happy and 4) trust the process... and tweak it if it stops working.

You might have taken a small step back, but you are not where you once were--- you are far further than that. Treat yourself the way you want to treat others- be your own best friend and do not put yourself down!!! You are beautiful and strong and of all people I know on Sparks, the one who makes her goals happen- every single time! Not only do you KNOW you can, you also know you WILL!!! Because you accept nothing else of yourself.... so choose to be HAPPY Jen, because pushing for awesome, amazing goals while being miserable is a waste of energy in my opinion ---

Okay, enough from me. Just know, I'm here to encourage and support you!
