Another Week Has Passed......

emoticon We all know how time can fly by --- days, weeks, even months! How is it possible that in our youth time dragged! First it would seem as though school would never be out for the summer. Then suddenly summer was here -- the days were long and filled with fun, activity and sunshine!

Before we knew it our parents were talking about "back-to-school clothes." If there was ever a time in my young life when time passed quickly, it was watching those summer days fly by. Older people used to say to me that as I got older the time would go by faster. I didn't believe them. Time only travels at one speed.

Now I am older. Now I know what they meant. I see the same bored expression on the faces of young children as they complain "There is Nothing To Do!" And yet they have every electronic gadget known to man at their fingertips, just waiting to entertain them -- but still they moan and say "There is Nothing To Do."

Of course you can't go into a big department store and have any idea of what time of the year it is because if it's October all you'll see is Christmas trees and ads to clothing, toys, presents of all types -- "GET IT NOW WHILE THE SELECTION IS GOOD!" If I bought my Christmas presents then I would probably lose them before Christmas! And as soon as Christmas is over they seem to combine Valentine's Day and Easter!! They definitely never heard the saying of "Living One Day at a Time!" Or even to live in the present -- they are always so far ahead into the future they don't even know what's just around the corner.

One thing is certain, if my weight came off as fast as my days go by -- I'd be a skinny girl right now!!
emoticon Cheer Up! Time is relative!

I sure agree with you on time "flying" by. I have learned that so much more since I retired. I use start on Monday praying for Friday, and now it's Friday before I can wish for it.
As for the kids of today, if only they would put down their electronics, and go outside and see the world. How surprised they would be to see how much they could find to do. They just don't know what they are missing.
I found it very depressing to see Valetine's in all the stores, even before I had take my Christmas tree down. No wonder I never know what month it is !!

Boy am I with you on the passing of time....the older I get the faster it seems to go! Also with you on the advertising time line....Yikes! When we were younger, at Christmas time, I can't remember any holiday advertisements or decorations before Thanksgiving Day. The holiday toy advertisements started being aired on the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade TV
broadcast , and like Magic, the day after the Parade, the department stores sparkled with decorations and holiday lights started to twinkle. This might be just a child's recollection, but it is one that has stayed with me through the years. I also like the Skinny Girl concept....if it only worked that way! Oh well, back to the hard work! emoticon

which makes me think of the quote "Time flies when you're having fun". I think as we age, we appreciate things more so we are enjoying the time that we know is all too short. As another saying goes "Youth is wasted on the young"!

Then there are the days that just seem to drag on and on. Like when you get a toothache on Saturday and there's nobody at your dentist's office until Monday. I had that happen on the Labor Day weekend one year and the office didn't open until Tuesday. I was fortunate enough to have my mother around so she could drive. After the dental surgeon finished, I was flying high from the Demerol they gave me. But the offending tooth was gone.

Time flies by as it is and tonight we lose an hour of it! I won't panic though, we will get it back this fall, which will be here in the blink of an eye.
