This morning, at the end of my yoga practice (at the studio...) we take the last few minutes to meditate. Today, we focus on being grateful for ourselves, for taking the time on a Saturday morning to look after our mind and body.
This lead me to think that "this is routine for me... I do it even if I don't have the studio to guide me... ... .... " I had a hard time staying in the moment, because all I wanted from my class today was not to think about today or this past week or the week to come!!! I have a lot in my mind and yoga is my escape!
So I mindfully escaped to my early morning yoga session (by myself) in Huatulco (Mexico) during my last trip.
This is the quiet view from our balcony at sunrise,
and the view from my yoga mat (at the hotel spa - early in the morning, before the clinic opened - I was the only one there... )
This is one of my favorite moment of my vacation.
I also enjoyed running - yeah, I don't really take a break from training when I go on holidays! I used the gym once (just beside the spa, same view) but it was very warm and not particularly quiet... plus running on a treadmill is boring. So after the first day and seeing that the road outside the resort were safe, I ventured with Jeff for early runs. The route was not flat - wohooo HILLS!
Back to my yoga meditation this morning, I started thinking of my running route... what I saw and distracted from thinking that running was difficult!
I like birds - so as I was running in Mexico I keep looking up...
We saw many vultures - every morning we saw them stretching theirs wings in the sun.
and I love how the conure (I assume they are conure!) called each other!
One morning, we went off path, to a "trail" and ended up on a protected beach, were turtle come to nest.
Here is a turtle nest - a huge hole in the sand - these were not marked but we knew what it was I left it alone...
I read in "Chatelaine" that "the simple act of closing your eyes and listening ti your breath for a few minutes each day can make lasting change". I don't think that I achieved it during meditation today but I did focus on breathing as I was holding some stretches that were more demanding... however, I believe my colourful meditation and revisiting my happy memories are making a positive change in overall state of happiness!
