I went on a whale watching boating tour yesterday. The ride was amazing - the water was a deep blue - not like you see at the pier - no wonder they call it navy blue. It was pretty fun, but the doggone whales are prettty fast when they appear that by the time I point and my camera clicks (actuation to shutter too slow for this) the whales are almost back in the ocean. We'd have to stop our engines when we got close to them - and then the pitching and rolling of the boat would start - whale watching and a Six Flags ride all for the price of one! A couple of folks sort of landed on their backsides when this was happening. I think one person got really queasy - luckily I took dramamine a couple of hours before.
As we were heading back in, everyone thought that the whale activity was over - and then I spotted the best scene of the day - a whale soaring out of the water. I yelled, "Full breach -11 o'clock" (because you're supposed to alert sighting and direction when you see a whale). I almost couldn't believe it - the whale came out of the water to its tail. It was a mother and its calf. While swimming, the calf would do a double wave with its tail as it reentered the ocean. Everyone got excited and folks were congratulating me afterwards for spotting the action. All-in-all a pretty good trip!
As for my weight loss endeavors, not doing too bad. Went out a couple of times to eat and pretty much stayed on track - although I'm sure some of the sauces and cooking methods were not too non-carb friendly. I woke up today about a pound down from Monday - I hope that that is the case on my Monday weigh in. Getting closer and closer to breaking the 200 lb mark!
