It has been an interesting journey these last 9 weeks. For the last 6 weeks or so I have been fasting intermittently and eating more or less what I please. Slowly but surely I have been diminishing my carb intake, although I am not following any particular low carb protocol. I indulge in a handful of potato crisps, a little chocolate and maybe some ice cream over the weekend and sometimes a beer or some wine, but by and large I keep my intake simple - meat, vegetables and good quality fats, plus the occasional fruit and infrequent whey protein shakes.
Recently I read up on the Bulletproof Diet, but whenever I see serious restrictions, it makes me a trifle nervous...no, very nervous. I have a built-in dislike for any kind of food restriction as it invariably makes me want everything that is banned:) Since I made up my mind to do my own thing and fast intermittently, I have had weight loss success and peace of mind.
Every time I have tried something restrictive like Paleo, Atkins, Low Fat, or even a Vegetarian regimen, I have come a cropper...crashed and put on everything I have lost and more. So far on IF it has gone relatively smoothly and I have no desire to stop. It is no trouble for me not to eat for 16 hours. Needless to say, I drink a lot of water in the morning. I eat my first meal at noon and my last one before 8pm. The largest meal is invariably at 12 noon, then a light snack mid afternoon and a light meal like soup and toast or perhaps some vegetables or a substantial salad in the evening. If I am going out in the evening I will have my largest meal then. I have not put any specifics to my meals, I take it one day at a time and do what feels right for that day.
It is working.
Unfortunately I have not been able to do much exercise lately with my damaged knee. It has started hurting even with the pool exercises, but for now I am not worrying about that as the weight is moving down steadily.
And my smile is getting bigger...:))
