Welcome to my wonderful blessed world this morning!

Saturday, March 09, 2013

The sky is blue and the sun is shining. I was up at regular time this morning even though I could have slept in or lay in bed and watched some TV to start my day. I have sparked my world up and am getting ready to leave in about an hour for a long but interesting day at church. We are starting with a lunch with the vestry and the candidate for our minister. Then interviews, followed by dinner. After that, there will be an evening service where he will preach and then more interviews and a meeting afterward. I don't expect to get home until around 10 or 11 this evening. I am not worried about the meals - they will order from Subway for lunch and have Italian food for dinner (that could be a problem except I don't really LIKE Italian foods and especially not from the place they are ordering it) - I expect that my eating will be fine today and I will be too busy to snack or munch either. Lots of water will keep me in line.

This candidate looks especially good for our church. He comes from a church of similar size in a rural area only about 30-60 minutes from our church. The people from his congregation have very positive things to say about him. We have had trouble finding someone because whenever we interview someone they realize what a small rural area we live in and they are usually from big churches, urban areas like Chicago or New York or D.C. and do not think that life in rural WV will work for them or their families. This man lives in a community much like ours and so is familiar with the kind of life he can expect as our pastor. We have done well without a full-time minister because so many members of the church step up and do the kinds of things that he would do. We have also had part-time ministers who have helped out but we need someone we can call OURS. Our congregation is aging and I am one of the YOUNGSTERS so many are housebound or ill and need the comfort and services that a pastor can provide. Please pray for us and that God's hand will be in the process and that if this man is the one God wants for our church, that he also will want us for his flock.

Everyone have a blessed day, kissed with the love of children, pets, and the adults you care about, hugged by the warmth of sunshine and bright daylight, and tucked in by the hands of a loving and caring God who knows YOUR needs and desires and wishes the best for you.

All the best in selecting a new minister. Does the congregation vote (mine does), or does the committee make the decision based on congregants' feedback and the interviews? It is such an important decision for you and the prospective minister. i wish you all wisdom and grace in the process.

I hope that all goes well with this candidate. I come from a small community where our
congregation is mainly senior citizens. But our church is the most loving group I ever met. They are there for you no matter what. My husband and I fell on hard times this year due to medical reasons. Our pastor and his family were with us every step of the
way. Last month we had to move. So we miss our friends so much. Hopefully, we will find a chuch that will welcome us like our last one.

I hope that you have a lovely day and enjoy yourself.
