Keeping an upbeat attitude

Wow! Heading into week 6 with SparkPeople. Haven't stayed with anything this long in years, with the exception of my DH and my job, of course. I haven't lost any weight in three weeks now. What is going on there? Too many nibbles, portions too big, not enough sleep? Work on those things this week. I have joined the sleep challenge, will watch how much I am eating closer, etc.
Changes I have made that are becoming easier. I bought myself a fitbit for my birthday and I amazed at how much I wasn't walking. I was barely getting 3500 steps a day and just knew I was getting 12000 or more! I have worn the fitbit for 2 weeks and am up to 8000 steps most days. I am having to work my way up to the 10,000 recommend minimum, although yesterday I did hit that amount. Yes, I walked a few circles in the house while brushing my teeth before bed time..... but, hey, whatever works! I am happy with how the walking and stair climbing is going. Walking back to the mailbox after I got home was a once or twice a week thing 2 months ago. (Added bonus here, My DH is walking with me, good for him!!!) Now instead of stopping in the car and getting the mail, I am walking there and back twice!
I have drastically reduced the amount of processed foods we are eating.
We are building raised beds to grow some vegetables. Fresh vegetables are soooo good! (I could use some advice about a non-toxic way to keep the fire-ants out of my garden) We built a high fence to keep the deer out (crossing my fingers on this one), hoping the squirrels and rabbits don't eat too much!
Trying new recipes. The lentil burger is really good, we both enjoy that one.
Eating more fish meals, salmon, talipia, instead of pork or beef. I feel good that by my choices, my DH is noticing his eating habits and trying to improve them also.
Keeping sugar out of my diet has made me less irritable.
I have lost 5 pounds, (that is my yo-yo weight) now to lose the other 12 that is the 'hard' fat!
I know, I don't have as much to lose as some people (and let me say I admire and applaud every pound lost and healthy new habit for every person) , but sometimes this changing is tough.
I will carry on with this battle and I will be successful. Those scales don't know everything!

    Keep building up these healthy habits! While losing weight is a great payoff think about other things you have gained. How do your clothes fit, what is your energy level like? These, too, are victories that need to be celebrated!

    Good for you. You have a hood plan.It doesn't matter how much weight you have to lose, losing any amount is hard. Don't worry about the scales, just keep on making healthier choices. Fresh veggies are so much better. I can't wait until the weather is warm enough here to plant my garden. Try boric acid , I don't think I spelled that right, anyway it want hurt you. I had to use it when my daughter was a baby to wash her eyes out with every morning. I don't know if it will work, but I have heard of people using it for ants. You might research the internet to and find answers. Good luck and I hope your garden does well. You ought to try growing a few of your favorite herbs. They make a big difference in your food.
