Jillian Michaels Approves!

I am so excited! You know how you decide to do something and you think it's a great idea, but you get quizzical looks from other people and it makes you second-guess your decision? Then something happens that confirms you were on the right track and you feel emoticon!

Well, I'm having that experience right now. I subscribe to Health magazine (primarily because I had extra mileage points that I needed to use up, but that part isn't important). This month Jillian Michaels was the cover girl. I watch the Biggest Loser regularly but I've never particularly been a fan of Jillian per se. I've always had this perception of her as this super-human of the female gender who spends her life in a gym and never eats much and as a result she has this unattainable level of fitness that I will never achieve. However, once I read the magazine article I had a new respect for her. She supports alot of the same things I've been practicing since I began sparking a few months ago. I absolutely could not believe she had these two things to say:
1. Follow the 80/20 rule: Use 80% of your daily calories for healthy eating and use the other 20% on "fun" foods. emoticon I have been doing that! I did the math and said OMG I SOOOO have been doing that without realizing a health and fitness professional actually thinks it's a good idea. I'm SO over cutting out whole food groups, feeling deprived, etc. I'm not doing that anymore. emoticon
2. Eat dark chocolate every day. I have a chocolate streak! Then she went on to say she would rather die than live without sweets. WHAT?! Forreal?! Me too!!!

I think I love her now. Where is that Jillian Michaels spark team I ignored when I saw it... I think I should join now emoticon

    I am so happy you found a new revelation to tell you your plan keys are good! The only thing I have not liked abuot Jillian is when she screams and yells so hard at her people. Glad to see that she learned this season screaming is not required!

    Absolutely you should eat and live what you love because if you don't you are going to resent it and you will absolutely falter if not fail. Jillian like many others in the spotlight should have their "real" sides exposed more often so that people realize that they put their pants on just like we do so to speak. No one on this earth is perfect. We are all human and we are all on a journey of a lifetime not a diet with a beginning and an end that we anguish and agonize to the end of.....So glad you have had this epiphany. Enjoy that chocolate and whatever else you desire. L'Chaim! emoticon

    I've always like Jillian....I like her even more now!!! LOL I love her put-up-with-no-nonsense attitude. She's come a long way and I have much respect for her.

    Thanks for reminding me too of this side of Jillian--although I'm a fan of her no-nonsense approach. I think excuses got us where we are--battling to get the weight off. So then, let's do battle!

    I like Jillian in small doses but would never want to be on the biggest loser and take that kind of abuse. In reality you can eat in moderation and exercise you will never get to the point that you are so desperate to lose weight you would want to go on a show that is that extreme!

    I saw your blog title and had to read it! DSSECRETS isn't fond of her. I get her. I have her Yoga Meltdown DVD. I can also read her on TBL when she calls out those who just whine as an excuse to get a break from working out. She doesn't put up with the lame excuses. After going through some extreme life experiences, and knowing others have it worse, I have a low threshold for excuses as well. I've also seen her sensitive moments. She talks now about having children and how it has been a great learning experience. She's got 5 articles from the Feb Health online here.

    YES!! I'm so with you on not giving up ANYTHING! Moderation, YES! Deprivation NO! This is a lifestyle - we have to do it the rest of our LIVES!! And I for one do not choose a life with NO pizza and NO sweets!! But I do love the Russell Stover Sugarfree candy - just tried Dark Premium Chocolate - yum! emoticon

    I love your post it is insightful and amusing at the same time. I too am a HUGE fan oh the Biggest Loser but not so much Jillian. Maybe I should rethink that.
