Through this annual struggle I keep telling myself "I think I can...." and thank You Lord that we have an income to do all this paperwork about!!! Ours will be a lot easier this year since I retired a year and a half ago from home business of day care for children after 26 years!!! Still have the farm forms for DH market gardens and Farmer's markets. Better get busy on them...I tend to be the queen of filing wxtensions and promised that no more!

I enjoyed doing my taxes. I did one of my daughters and have another DD to do yet. This one has three (3) different state forms to do and our computer won't start. I am crossing my fingers the computer starts so I can get this done. Next year it might only be one (1) state, but some of her employment will be 1099 forms. I'll have to understand how all that works with paying in the Ss and Medicare taxes as well as state and federal taxes. The W2's are much easier when an employer that's out all the requirements.
But for now I just continue to unplug computer, wait, plug back in, cross fingers and turn on. One of these times it will start. An intermittent problem that's difficult to trouble shot. emoticon

The last time I paid to have my taxes done for me it cost me almost $200. That was about 7-8 years ago. I will continue to do them online. You can do Federal for free at FREETAXUSA.COM and it only cost $9.95 to file your state. It's the cheapest one I could find. I efiled with direct deposit and I had my federal refund in 7 days. Its safe and very easy to follow. They ask the questions you just put in the numbers. If you collect everything you need before you start it will take you no time at all.

Good luck Chris!!

Taxes are a pain, but my Hubby has done them and refund already in the bank. Sounds like you have the worst of it done.

We don't mess with our taxes anymore. We have them done. It is so much easier.
We got back both of them within 3 weeks after they were mailed in.
We use Direct Deposit rather than having to go deposit them ourselves.

I know we are lazy. LOL!

Have a cup of tea and rest.

FYI - most libraries have every possible tax form you could need. If you don't want to deal with the printer issues, just figure out what forms you need and swing by your library to pick them up - and get 2 or 3 copies in case you make a mistake. Just be sure to recycle any you end up not using.

Good luck, you can do it! Try rewarding yourself at the end of each section with a cup of tea.
