Wind-Assisted Record Run

Yesterday I ran the trail near my house. After a good warm up, I ran fairly hard. I made one mile in 8 minutes and 50 seconds, the fastest I've ever recorded. I realized when I turned around something I hadn't realized when I was running. There was quite a wind. I read that gusts went up to 30mph yesterday. So that time was probaably a bit (or more) wind-assisted. After that I ran-walk-ran several miles very easily. Think I'm ready for my 5Ks on Saturday!!

Today I did half hour on the stationary bike with Aquagirl at the Y and then I did a half hour on the elliptical. Feeling good!

In case you didn't see it in my status, this morning I weighed 126.2, the least I've weighed in well over a year and just .2 from my happy weight. I've pre-planned my food for today, including going out to dinner with my local SparkTeam this eve. I'm committed to sticking to my food plan. I've pared down my morning and afternoon snacks in order to allow for my 780 calorie supper - six ounce sirloin (that's a treat because I only eat steak a couple times a year), plain sweet potato, and vegetable blend. I know that even when I follow it, I could be up 2 pounds tomorrow. Won't derail me. I'm going to have great races on Saturday and get to my happy weight next week or the week after. Just one more week until I celebrate 4 full years at a healthy BMI!!

Enjoy your food and dinner with your Spark Team!! Its no time to feel angst over a possible weight gain. Just drink lots of water to counter the sodium.
If you read a Chef Meg's tip on how they prepare steak in restaurants so it has that nice finish, you get an idea where the calories come from. Unfortunately, I can't remember the details, but was surprised. Its nice to get an insider's tips on the tricks the restaurant industry uses to make things taste and present better. You can request not to have this rub finish put on if you like.

    Many years ago, I saw John Carlos run a wind aided world record in the 100 meters. I still think the wind meter was lying, I felt nothing. So take your record, forget that wind unless you need to subtract from your time if you think it is blowing against you at maybe...50 generous with yourself, the wind meter isn't..

    Good luck on your 3-5K day... you are doing great. I've been under the weather up here... and missing from Spark... even missed spinning the wheel and broke an over two year streak! Ah, well. One day at a time... almost human again today and back at work.

    Great run yesterday! I'm about to go out there in some windy conditions... it's great when you've got a tailwind, but UGH on running into the wind!!! Congrats on your 4 years at healthy BMI!
