Is it spring yet?

Thursday, March 07, 2013

There comes a point in the winter season that we want spring to come back so we can be outside more. I know some people love the winter weather and the snow, and for a while I enjoy it too, but I really prefer the spring. I don't ski, I don't ice fish, I don't even throw snowballs.

While the trees can be pretty and it is nice to see the snow falling gently when I don't have to go anywhere, there is just a point when one more snowfall is one too many. I'll take melting snow and muddy paths over one more day of being frozen. It seems like winter lasts for 6 months, some years snow is on the ground for that long.

I don't mind walking around outside in 30 degree weather, but I really prefer 20 degrees more. I love seeing the grass growing again and the flowers starting to bloom. I enjoy gardening and watching my food develop. It is just a time of rebirth. The ducks come back, the birds sing, the robins show up. The bunnies hop around and the animals in general start to wander again.

Because we're able to be outside more, the germs don't tend to stick to us as much. We're in general healthier during the warm months. We're able to find fresher produce and want them more. With the greenhouses around here, we're also able to find more local produce.

It's the time of being able to throw open the windows and start some spring cleaning. We get rid of the dust that settled during the winter. We wipe down surfaces that may have been neglected because it has been so dark. We're able to get things done later in the day.

I'm really looking forward to the warmer weather, can it come soon?

I am sooooo looking forward to the warmer weather and bringing my exercise back outdoors. The nice, clean layer of snow is fine and pretty and everything, but I am definitely ready for spring. Heck, I'm ready for summer!

I'm with you, can't wait for spring to arrive---the sooner the better. However, with the snowstorm we had this week, and the crapy weekend predicted it will be more ice to deal with. Heck, hurry spring, I'm waiting for summer.

I have been feeling that spring fever itch the last couple days, and even though we just had a big snowfall, I believe Spring is here! I checked out the forecast for the next 10 days for us (northern IL) and it'll be around 40 for the next week and then up to 50 degrees. CAN. NOT. WAIT!!!!!!!!

Hope you see similar weather soon as well :) emoticon

I am not a fan of cold weather. My favorite season is summer. I love my garden and the nice fresh produce. I just look to see what is ready and build our dinner around it. We also have peach trees and a nice fresh peach is delicious! I am ready for warmer weather, too. emoticon

Geez I hope so!!! I was just saying the other day as I was walking through the snow for the umpteumth time (don't think I spelled that right) that I would rather be walking through the mud and melting waters of spring than to be in this snow anymore!! 13 days till spring and daylight savings time is this weekend!! emoticon
